Our Story

In the fall of 2004, The Crossing church was born with a few people meeting together in the Elk River movie theater. God was moving to create a place where believers would be thrilled with spiritual truth, and seekers would be moved one step closer to a relationship with Jesus.

And God began changing lives. People began meeting Him for the first time or returning to faith after years away. Addicts began finding recovery. Many "went public with their faith" by being baptized. As the word spread about the "church for people who don't 'do' church", The Crossing grew. Serivices filled up as more people came to meet Jesus and find hope and meaning for life. As people began to give and serve, and rally around God's mission for The Crossing, the environment exploded with energy and creativity, from kids' programming to the First Impressions Team; from creative production to the band.

In the fall of 2008, the Purple Cow Campaign challenged people to live life "standing out from the herd". It also presented the biggest challenge ever to the people of The Crossing, who committed to give extraordinarily to enable the church to reach even more people. Because of this, The Crossing was able to open its first permanent location in Elk River, and an additional campus in Zimmerman (launched October 25, 2009). But that's just the beginning. We invite you to join us and become a part of the continuing story at The Crossing.
